Trailers loaded with bananas stolen from port

WILMINGTON, Del. - July 3, 2008 Delaware State Troopers say the trailers were shipped to the Port of Wilmington by boat and arrived Wednesday afternoon at approximately 5:30.

The trailers were removed from the port and taken to a staging area at 600 Terminal Avenue where they were to be attached to a rig and transported to various destinations.

A truck driver who arrived at the terminal to pick up one of the trailers discovered the theft Thursday morning. A check of the lot discovered that a second trailer was also missing.

The first trailer has Dole written on the sides. It has a Tennessee registration of Y-566733.

The second trailer has "Camel Express" on the sides. It has the Pennsylvania tag, PT9708J.

Anyone who spots the trailers with these registration numbers is asked to call Delaware state police.
