Overturned tanker in South Philly

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - July 4, 2008 This accident has caused the Schuylkill Expressway Passyunk Avenue on ramp (#347B) to be closed.

It happened around 4:55 p.m. in the area of 26th and Passyunk Avenues.

Details remain sketchy, but the tanker is carrying approximately 7500 gallons of fuel.

The driver, described as a 43-year old man, was injured and is being taken to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for care.

There is no word on why the driver lost control of the rig.

There is also a light pole down and a small fuel leak.
