A man boogie boarding in the surf at Baltimore Avenue beach in Cape May suffered a head injury and had to be rescued by guards. The incident happened at 11:30 a.m., when guards immediately saw that the man was in trouble and got him out of the water.

He was unconscious, but responsive.

As a safeguard, because of the possibility of a head or neck injury, the man was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, which has a trauma center, in Atlantic City
