Flyers Returning to Spectrum for Preseason Game
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - August 1, 2008
Team officials say the Flyers will take on the Carolina
Hurricanes in a preseason game on Sept. 27, at the same arena where
they won their first Stanley Cup in 1974.
Comcast-Spectacor announced last month that the Wachovia
Spectrum will close in 2009 and be demolished to make room for
entertainment development.
Comcast-Spectacor chairman Ed Snider says the preseason game
against the Hurricanes will be an emotional one that gives fans a
chance to see the Flyers in their old home.
