A judge suspended a six-month jail sentence after being assured Michael Gonzalez would undergo a year of psychotherapy.
Gonzalez also must pay a $4,100 fine and serve a year on probation.
Authorities said the 30-year-old lured the baby geese away from their parents and into a wooded area, where witnesses said he emerged smiling in May.
The baby geese, which still had downy yellow fur, died of blunt force injuries.
