August 14, 2008 4:56:29 AM PDT
Chester County's 911 emergency calling system was out of commission for more than five hours last night. The lines went down at about 4:55 yesterday afternoon and stayed that way until a little after 10:00 last night.

Officials were able to switch calls to an emergency backup system.

There's no word yet on a cause.
