Ike evacuees arrive in Philadelphia

Philadelphia Int'l Airport - SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 - Some of those who left arrived in our area.

At Philadelphia International Airport Friday, several flights from Houston were cancelled. However, some people were lucky enough to get out.

"My house might not be there when I get back, but I am!" said Jackie Enright of Houston.

"We were able to get out. After 9:00 they closed our airport so nobody else was able to get out," said Steve Cohan of Houston.

One woman says she used the hurricane as an excuse to visit family.

"I'm not originally from Houston, so I've never been in a hurricane before, and I don't really want to find out what it's going to be like," said Courtney Grant. "So I just came up to visit my sister in Philadelphia as a precautionary measure."

Some people who live in Pennsylvania say they were more than ready to come home.

"I was lucky to get the last flight out," said William DeBose of Coopersburg. "It cost me more money, but money comes and goes."
