Deliveryman shot on first day of work

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - October 18, 2008 It happened around 7:30 Saturday night in the 6900 block of Saybrook Avenue.

Police say the employee was making a delivery when he was shot in the chest while in his car in an apparent robbery attempt.

The employee, in his 30s, drove back to the restaurant and collapsed.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition. He is now listed in stable condition.

It was apparently the victim's first night on the job .

There have been no arrests.
