Car crashes into Claymont home, several injured

CLAYMONT, Del. - January 17, 2009 County Police, New Castle County Paramedics, and multiple units from the volunteer fire service arrived on scene and found that a 2004 black Mercury Mountaineer SUV had crashed into the front door and living room area of the residence.

Fire, Paramedic and Police personnel worked together to provide aid to three injured subjects.

Members of the New Castle County Police Traffic Services Unit are on scene and beginning the investigation.

What is known at this time is:

The driver and lone occupant of the SUV is an adult male. He was taken to the hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

There were three individuals in the home at the time of the crash, all of whom are adults. Two females in the home were taken to the hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries sustained when the car crashed into the home.

New Castle County Code Inspectors have been requested to inspect the home to determine its safety.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
