Attorney: Calif. cops shot bystander intentionally

CHINO, Calif. – February 9, 2009 Attorney Mark Algorri told the San Bernardino Sun on Saturday that Daniel Balandran was targeted without warning during the armed robbery on Feb. 1.

He says the 24-year-old Balandran was not told to put his hands up and not told to lie on the ground.

Police say Balandran was an innocent victim caught in a crossfire. Two robbery suspects and a police officer were wounded during the shootout at a Papa John's Pizza in Chino, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles.

Algorri says he will likely file a wrongful-death claim with the city.
