Small earthquake rattles central NJ

February 15, 2009 6:36:28 AM PST
No major damage or injuries are reported when a small earthquake rattles parts of Morris County. Yesterday's quake, with a magnitude of 2.2, was recorded shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Officials say its epicenter was about 6 miles north of Boonton, and it was felt in neighboring Montville.

It marked the second time in two weeks that an earthquake had hit in Morris County.

An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 had rattled windows and alarmed residents of several Morris communities on Feb. 2. That quake was centered in Rockaway, Dover and Morris Plains.
