Strong quake hits off Peru coast

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting a strong earthquake off the coast of northern Peru. The magnitude 6.2 quake shook the region at 5:04 a.m. local time on Sunday (10:04 GMT, 5:04 a.m. EST) about 22 miles (35 kilometers) under the ocean floor.

There are no immediate reports of injury or damage.
