Univ. of Penn. announces another health alert

Philadelphia - February 18, 2009 University doctors report a Wharton graduate student has been diagnosed with measles. The student is home and being treated by doctors.

Most people are not at risk for the disease. The MMR vaccine, which protects against the measles, is required for student enrollment at Penn.

An email sent to students says close contacts to the infected student are already being notified.

Symptoms of measles include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes. Students with symptoms are urged to seek treatment at the health center at 3535 Market Street.
