3-alarm fire hits Darby Borough home

DARBY BOROUGH, Pa. - February 24, 2009 Around 9:29 area firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of Whitely Terrace in Darby Borough for the report of a fire.

When they arrived they found the house full of smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home.

The firefighters made entry to the home but were later told to evacuate due to the integrity of the structure.

The fire was quickly brought up to 3 alarms. It was finally brought under control at 11:22 a.m.

A total of 11 people have been displaced because of the fire. One home was destroyed and two others were badly damaged.

No injuries have been reported.
