Several injured in SW Phila. fire

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - March 2, 2009 The initial call went out at 6:30 this morning on the 5900 block of Springfield Avenue. Fire crews quickly got to work fighting the blaze, bring the flames under control by 7:00.

A two-year-old and a five-year-old were transported to CHOP for smoke inhalation along with three others. A 22 year-old and a 25-year-old were transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for smoke inhalation.

One firefighter was also transported to HUP after she fell down steps at the scene.

All are expected to recover

Investigators are working to determine a cause.
