Officers pulled up to investigate the vehicle seemingly parked in the intersection Saturday night in Carroll Township in south-central Pennsylvania.
Sgt. David Smith says the driver was asleep at the wheel, with his foot on the brake and a beer in the console.
Officers yelled to wake the man, then had to quickly halt the vehicle when his foot came off the brake and it drifted into the intersection.
The 41-year-old driver has a preliminary hearing scheduled in about two weeks before District Justice Richard Thomas on a charge of driving under the influence.
