Eagles sign safety Rashad Baker to 1-year deal

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - March 11, 2009 Baker is the second safety the Eagles have signed since losing seven-time Pro Bowl pick Brian Dawkins to Denver and backup Sean Considine to Jacksonville in free agency.

Baker is from nearby Camden, N.J. He had 24 tackles and a career-high three interceptions for the Raiders last season.

The Eagles free agent Sean Jones a one-year deal last week. Jones and second-year pro Quintin Demps are expected to compete for the starting spot at free safety.

Baker signed as a rookie free agent with Buffalo in 2004. He played two seasons with the Bills and spent time with Minnesota and New England before going to Oakland.
