"Monkey bears" make their debut

SAN DIEGO (AP) - March 17, 2009

But they're more bear than monkey.

Two endangered Bornean sun bear cubs have been introduced at the San Diego Zoo.

The twin cubs were born at the zoo on Oct. 25 and made their public debut yesterday.

The zoo's lead keeper Lisa Bryant says the cubs spent the day exploring their habitat, including scaling their climbing structures.

Bryant says the sun bears are affectionately called "monkey bears" because they spend much of their time in trees.
