Hotel offers wedding discount to servicemen and women

April 15, 2009

The Radisson in Trevose is cutting 30% off the prices of all their wedding packages if one member of the couple getting married is in the military.

Food and Beverage Manager Joseph Oliveira explains that if one member of the couple is active or retired from any of the armed services, they will qualify for the discount.

The discount doesn't just benefit the couples, it's also good for the hotel employees.

Oliveira says, " We wanted to give our employees a chance to stay employed, for us to stay open, with business as usual. So, that's where this idea came from."

Oliveira says couples are budgeting an average of 15% to 20% less on their weddings now than just a year or two ago.

They're cutting costs by supplying their own cakes or flowers... Shortening the hours of the open bar... Or simplifying hors d'oeuvres at the cocktail hour.

The hotel's wedding reception packages start at $67 per person -- before the discount. Once extras, like taxes, tips, premium liquors, fancy desserts and so on are added, they can be as much as $110 per person, so the discount is significant.
