108-year-old forgets birthday

Mattie Caldwell now knows how old she really is -- thanks to Uncle Sam.

The Flint Township, Mich., woman celebrated her birthday earlier this month. But she couldn't remember if she was 111 or 108. Conflicting records showed she was born in either 1901 or 1898.

The Flint Journal reports a genealogist found Caldwell listed in the 1910 U.S. Census. She was nine at the time, making 1901 the correct year.

Dorothy Donnell says having a 111-year-old great-aunt would have been great. But Donnell adds "108 is fantastic."
