City officials say they want to make even more of the span accessible for the upcoming Easter weekend.
Commissioner Stan Mills says the first phase of the project is on schedule and the boardwalk between Wilmington to Rehoboth avenues is now open. He says they hope to open the section of boardwalk from Delaware to Wilmington avenues for the holiday weekend.
Mills says the sections slated to reopen still need lighting and foot showers.
Officials say the second phase of the project is awaiting federal stimulus funding.
