Fake cops busted in Delaware

April 9, 2009 11:02:31 AM PDT
New Castle County police say they've arrested three teens accused of conducting a fake traffic stop.

Police say 18-year-old Benjamin Juan of Elkton, Md., 18-year-old Erik Romero of Elsmere and a 16-year-old from Elsmere were in a blue Ford Crown Victoria with a blue strobe light on the dash that stopped a car early Saturday.

Police say Juan saw what he thought was a friend's car, turned on the strobe light, then told the driver over a loud speaker to get out with his hands up. When he did, police say Juan drove off.

Elsmere and county officers caught up with the Crown Victoria later. The teens are charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer, using a flashing light to illegally pull over a car and conspiracy.
