Car fire causes NJ Turnpike backup

New Jersey State Police and Salem County Fire Departments are on the scene of a car fire on the New Jersey Turnpike about 5 miles from the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The car burst into flames about 3:40 p.m. Friday afternoon causing traffic to backup for miles.

The fire was extinguished by 4:00 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.

Police recommend motorists take 295 South to detour to the bridge.
