PHILADELPHIA (AP) - April 21, 2009 The only hitch: even though 29-year-old Nick Andes and
30-year-old Doug Klinger have unlimited texting plans, Andes got a
two-telephone-book-thick itemized bill, delivered in a box, for
$26,000. After a "panicked" call, Andes says his cell phone
company assures him he won't have to pay it.
Andes says the two Lancaster-area residents have ample time for
messaging and have been practically nonstop texters for about a
decade since they were in school together. That prompted Andes to
search for the largest monthly text message total he could find
online, 182,000 sent in 2005 by a man in India.
Andes says he sent more than 140,000 messages and Klinger sent
more than 70,000 for their total of just over 217,000.
