The boy was brought to Cape May Regional Medical Center on Thursday afternoon with injuries to his stomach and internal bleeding.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Garcia was arrested at his home in the 100 block of East Learning Avenue in Wildwood late Thursday night.
Police say the beating took place at a location at the Woodbine Manor Apartments in Woodbine, New Jersey.
Garcia is in the Cape May jail, being held without bail.
