Bail revoked for subway attack suspect

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - April 29, 2009 Prosecutors say 17-year-old Arthur Alston punched a fellow student April 21 at Delaware Valley High School, a private alternative school in Northeast Philadelphia that Alston began attending after being placed on house arrest.

Alston faces third-degree murder and conspiracy charges in the attack on 36-year-old Starbucks manager Sean Patrick Conroy on March 26, 2008. Conroy died afterward of an asthma attack.

A judge granted a request Tuesday by the district attorney's office to revoke Alston's bail, saying he had been given a chance under house arrest and had forfeited that privilege.

Alton will remain in custody until he goes on trial Aug. 17.
