Body of NJ woman identified

WESTAMPTON, N.J. - April 30 ,2009 Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi and Westampton Police Chief Rick Smith announced today that the body discovered yesterday evening in Westampton, N.J., has been identified as a homeless woman living in the area.

An autopsy was performed today by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood. The cause and manner of death have not been determined, pending the outcome of toxicology tests. However, the autopsy preliminarily indicated there were no signs of criminal conduct or foul play in connection with her death.

The name and age of the woman are not being released at this time pending notification of her family. The body was discovered Wednesday at approximately 6:15 p.m. in a wooded area about 50 feet from Hancock Lane.

No further information will be released today.

The case is being investigated by detectives from the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and Westampton Township Police Department.
