The search is on for the killer who gunned down a man on a Philadelphia street in front of a woman and four children.

It happened about 11:30 Thursday night in the 1100 block of Overington Street in the Frankford section of the city.

The victim -- a man in his 40s -- and the woman and children, were starting to get out of a car when the killer walked up to the man and opened fire, wounding him in the chest.

The victim died in the car.

Homicide detectives are talking to the woman and children.

Investigators have not yet said if the woman and children are related to the victim.

Detectives say robbery does not appear to be the motive, since the suspect took nothing from the scene.

At this time they do not have a suspect in mind.
