N.J. motor vehicle fees going up

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - May 27, 2009 6abc.com TRAVEL LINKS:

The Motor Vehicle Commission board approved the higher fees despite receiving more than 900 comments from angry motorists.

Most of the complaints came from motorcyclists, who will pay $65 to register their bikes. The current fee is $31.50.

It will also cost truckers, limo drivers and school bus drivers more to get a commercial driver's license. The processing cost will jump from $35 to $125.

The MVC says the higher fees will generate $40 million to $60 million in added revenue.
