Building collapse after strong storms

NEW CASTLE, Del. - June 2, 2009 - It is happening at 186 N. Dupont Highway in the Airport Industrial Park.

Half of the roof collapsed, while the other half was blown off.

The building is used to store auto parts. One man was inside when a powerful storm hit around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.

"I was there to pick up a part, and I left one door open. Then, I noticed all the doors were gone. The next thing I know the middle of the roof was shaking. Then the roof went up into the air, and I watched it fly up into the trees. I told my boss about it, and we got out of there," said witness Chad Johnson.

He got out of the building, and no one was hurt.

The National Weather Service says there are no readings of any rotation activity in Northern New Castle County, that would have indicated a possible tornado.
