Brick Township police say the girls argued Thursday before the 17-year-old struck the younger girl with the bat.
Police say the older girl climbed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee and ran down the younger girl. When the younger girl attempted to get up, police say the older girl crashed the SUV into her again, knocking her unconscious.
The 16-year-old was treated and released from a hospital.
The 17-year-old is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident and numerous motor vehicle violations.
Their names were not released because of their ages.
