Pa. lottery sales end early Monday

The Pennsylvania Lottery will shut down ticket sales four hours early to upgrade the agency's computer system. Ticket sales will close at 8 p.m. Monday and resume Tuesday morning.

Executive director Ed Trees says for several months the Lottery has been replacing terminals with new ones at all Lottery retailers across the state. The terminals being replaced are 10 years old.

The final phase of the conversion project, Trees says, involves upgrading the software in the "back-office" computer system.

The new lottery terminals feature touch-screen technology and remote devices that allow players to check their own tickets to see if they have won.
