Reputed NJ gang leader sentenced in shootings

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - June 21, 2009 Shawn Cook must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence imposed Friday before becoming eligible for parole.

The 26-year-old Camden resident, an alleged three-star general in the Bloods, had pleaded guilty in April to aggravated manslaughter, attempted murder and aggravated assault charges. In return, Burlington County prosecutors agreed to drop murder charges.

Cook admitted carrying out the shootings that were ordered by Tarell "Trigger" Ambrose, an alleged four-star Bloods general who was sentenced earlier this month to 22 years in prison.

The shootings in Camden and Willingboro left one man dead and another injured.
