Mrs. Fixit:Entertain This

July 11, 2009

You go to all the trouble of making a lovely meal and then it gets cold because it's served on chilly plates.

Shortly before your guests are set to arrive, run your plates throught the hot drying cycle on your dishwasher.

Your hands are free to attend to last minute details and your plates are nice and toasty for your guests.

How about glassware? Just the opposite, you want chilled glasses for punch or champagne but your fridge is totally full?

Well, fill a large baking dish with ice and lay a towel on top of it. Then carefuilly lay your glasses on their sides in the dish. From time to time, roate the glasses and they'll be perfectly chilled when you need them.

Buy a package of inexpensive blank notecards and label them with the various dishes on your buffet. Your guest will know what all of your yummy treats are without stopping to ask which leaves you free to tend to your other guests.

Put bite sized desserts like cookies and candies in individual paper cups so they can be easily lifted without getting crumbs all over.

Some ideas to make your next party easier! I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
