NJ OK immunity for some teen drinkers

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - June 27, 2009 The bill grants immunity to any under 21 who has been drinking if that person calls police when another teen drinks too much and needs medical help. Police would not be able to prosecute either the person who called or the one sickened by alcohol.

The Senate and Assembly gave their approval on Thursday, and the measure now heads to Gov. Jon S. Corzine. Proponents say the bill would help save lives, since teens would not be scared to call for help.
