"It's just a hard hit for everybody; she was just dearly loved," Angela Edmunds said.
Rian Thall and unidentified male friend were gunned down Saturday as they attempted to enter Thall's 7th floor apartment at the Piazza at Schmidts located in the 1000 block of North 2nd Street.
Investigators say they found a large amount of drugs and cash inside the unit, but no motive has been discovered yet.
Police do not know yet if Thall, her companion, or both, were the intended target.
Thall was a well connected party planner. Friends of Thall say they did not know the man and police are still trying ot confirm his identity. However, people claiming to be relatives say he's Timothy Gilmore, a Detroit, Michigan firefighter.
"Even amongst her friends, none of us, knew who that person was; everyone's in shock over this, she was really a sweet, loving person," Shelia Barry said.
The trendy Piazza at Schmidts just opened a couple of months ago. Security personnel canvassed the grounds Sunday, preventing media from entering the plaza.
The complex has a sophisticated security system including cameras. Police say three men fled the shooting and were captured on camera, but detectives are not yet releasing the video because it's too graphic.
So far, there are no suspects.
