PA contractor registry

June 29, 2009 By then, contractors must be registered with the Attorney General's office. It's a requirement of the Home Improvement Consumer Protection act going into effect July 1st.

The law also requires contractors be insured and supply detailed information on contracts, including start and completion dates.

Pennsylvania consumers can verify a contractor's registration online or by calling 1-888-520-6680.

New Jersey already has a state registry for contractors.
