Staff Sergeant Robert Evans is home on a two week leave from Iraq.
Evans bravely down on one knee in front of our Action News camera Monday afternoon to declare his love for his girlfriend Melissa Moore.
Moore wasn't expecting Evans home for another week! But Evans wanted to give her the surprise of a lifetime by showing up at her office in Trenton with a proposal.
"I'm shocked," Moore laughed, "very shocked."
"I'm ecstatic," Evans told Action News. "This is something that I've been wanting to do for awhile and I feel like this is the right time."
The Salem County couple has not set a wedding date
Evans still has his five months left on his second tour in Iraq.
