Myers has no damage in eye

ATLANTA (AP) - August 16, 2009 Dr. John Michealos examined Myers' eye in Clearwater, Fla., on Sunday.

Myers injured his eye when he slipped while getting out of his truck and hit his face Friday night. Myers originally told the Phillies he was hurt playing catch with 4-year-old son.

Myers had swelling around his eye, and the injury caused him to miss a one-inning rehab appearance Saturday for Class-A Clearwater. Phillies spokesman Kevin Gregg indicated the team now hopes Myers will be ready to pitch Wednesday.

The seven-year veteran has been out since May 28 due to a torn labrum in his right hip.
