The U.S. Coast Guard says a freighter has freed itself after it ran aground overnight near the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The U.S. Coast Guard says the Jill Jacob was traveling north on the Delaware River when got stuck about 1,000 feet away the bridge late Sunday. It was freed after its contents were shifted.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Jonathan Lindberg says the freighter was carrying more than 105,000 barrels of fuel from Canada to the Valero facility in Paulsboro, N.J.

Lindberg says no leakage of fuel or injuries to the crew were reported. The freighter has been towed to a spot just outside of Wilmington and its steering system will be examined to see if it was damaged.

The Jill Jacob is 749 feet long.
