One worker has been hurt and a second was briefly missing but being attended to after an explosion and fire were reported at United State Steel Corp.'s Clairton Coke Works near Pittsburgh. Allegheny County dispatchers say the call came in at 11:26 a.m. Thursday.

United States Steel has its own fire department, which has responded to the scene. A company spokeswoman says she didn't immediately have any information to release.

Dispatchers say the injured worker was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. That facility often treats burn victims. The second worker was being evaluated at the scene.

It was not immediately clear what cause the fire or where in the plant it occurred.
