Christie giving major speech in NJ governor race

PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) - September 9, 2009 He's speaking at the Paramus Elks Lodge.

The former U.S. Attorney has been leading in polls against Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine and Independent Chris Daggett.

Christie's campaign has said the focus will be on the economy. The campaign blames the state's unemployment rate and state budget crisis on Corzine, a former Wall Street executive. Corzine says the real problem is the national economy.

The campaign has been mired with accusations that Christie used his job as the state's top federal law enforcement official for political purposes.
