Medic unit struck by car, 3 injured

BRANDYWINE, Del. - October 25, 2009

Just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, a New Castle County Medic Unit travelling south on I-95 approaching Marsh Road in Brandywine was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the striking vehicle is reported to have had a medical condition and became unconscious.

Both paramedics and the driver of the vehicle were transported to Wilmington Hospital.

The medics suffered minor injuries. The driver's injuries are unknown.

Traffic on I-95 was backed up for several miles all the way back to the state line.

Part of I-95 was closed due to the crash until around 5:30 p.m.
