Victims of Pitman, NJ house fire identified

PITMAN, N.J.- February 3, 2010

Investigators say Barbara Powell, 61, died in the blaze and her mother, Jane Esbjornson, 85, was injured.

9-1-1 dispatchers received a call just after 4:00 a.m. from a home on the 500 block of Wildwood Avenue in Pitman, Gloucester County.

When firefighters arrived they were told that two people might be trapped in the burning home.

They managed to rescue Esbjornson. She has been transferred from Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Washington Township to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. She was last listed in critical condition.

The fire was placed under control at 5:05 a.m.

The Gloucester County prosecutor's office has joined the investigation into the cause of the fire.
