It happened just after 5:00 a.m. in the 5500 block of Walnut Street.
Firefighters say they arrived to find heavy fire on the second floor of a two story apartment building.
It took firefighters a half hour to bring the flames under control.
The body was discovered sometime afterward. The victim is a middle-aged woman, but no identity has been released.
12 people have been displaced by this fire. They are being helped by the Red Cross.
