NJ town to honor Marine killed in Afghanistan

WESTWOOD, N.J. - January 21, 2010

Sgt. Christopher Hrbek's remains will be escorted through his hometown of Westwood Thursday.

The 25-year-old died Jan. 14 during a combat operation in Helmand Province. Family members say he was killed by an improvised explosive device.

Hrbek joined the Marines in 2002 shortly after graduating from Westwood High School. He was a nine-year member of the Westwood Fire Department and came from a family of firefighters.

A procession will begin at 3 p.m. at Third Avenue and end at Becker Funeral Home.

A wake will be held Friday and the funeral will take place Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church.
