Suspect charged in New Castle stabbing

NEW CASTLE, Del. - February 1, 2010

Twenty-five-year-old Javier Morales is charged with stabbing 29-year-old Miguel Gomez of New Castle early Monday.

Investigators say Gomez and his 19-year-old sister went looking for her boyfriend late Sunday night, and that an argument broke out after they found the boyfriend with Morales and another man near downtown Wilmington.

Gomez, his sister and her boyfriend left the scene, but the other two men followed them to a fast-food restaurant, where Morales allegedly drew a knife, chased Gomez, then stabbed him in the chest.

Gomez was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital. Morales turned himself in shortly after the killing.
