Martin Luther King play set for B'way next season

NEW YORK (AP) - February 10, 2010

"The Mountaintop" by Katori (kah-TOR'-ee) Hall re-imagines the events that take place the night before King's assassination in Memphis in 1968. No casting was announced Wednesday by producers Jean Doumanian (do-MANE'-ee-an) and Sonia Friedman, but they are negotiating with Kenny Leon to direct the production. The play is set to open this fall.

Also on tap for next season is the Broadway debut of playwright Jon Robin Baitz (BATES). His latest play is "Love and Mercy," which producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel say deals with parents, children and the bonds that tie them together.
