Minor earthquake rattles Somerset County

BERNARDSVILLE, N.J. (AP) - February 21, 2010

But no injuries were reported, and authorities say the quake apparently didn't cause any damage.

The 2.6 magnitude quake's epicenter was reported in Gladstone around 9 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Officials say the area, which sits on the Ramapo Fault Line, had experienced a 1.5 magnitude earthquake last month.

Bernardsville police Sgt. John Remian said the department heard from dozens of residents who felt Sunday's quake, which also rattled police headquarters.

"It was felt by everybody here," Remian told The Star-Ledger of Newark. "It felt like the whole room was shaking around us, and a loud explosion afterward."
