The Haddonfield law firm representing the 42-year-old woman, identified only as Gretchen W., contends in the class-action suit that more than 200 people may have been similarly videotaped.
The lawsuit was filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Camden.
It states that federal courts have upheld the right of a person arrested for a nonindictable offense to use the bathroom without being watched by officers.
A police spokesman, Lt. Bill Kushina, would not comment specifically on the suit but said the department complies with state guidelines on videotaping.
